Project Rates

Rates for Audio Transfers to CD-R

What's the cost? The cost for STANDARD PROJECTS is simply a flat $3 per minute of final playing time. The minimum project cost is $50. For example, a 30-minute CD would run $90.  Most shipping charges are around $6 - $7 dollars. I ship by either UPS or US Priority Mail. Shipment tracking numbers are provided by email.

Anything less expensive? Yes. A RAW TRANSFER. The cost is $2 per minute. The $50 minimum project charge still applies, however. This direct transfer is supplied on CD without any noise reduction, editing or creation of tracks. Once a CD is full, the transfer continues to the next CD. This is useful if you would like to experiment with editing and sound processing yourself, but lack the wire recording hardware, or the 78-rpm equipment.

Questions?

What's included in the project? You get the CD-R, the CD label and a CD Jewel Case. Inserts, "j-cards," or CD booklets are not included. I can record up to 79 minutes onto each CD.

What do additional copies cost? Additional copies of CD's are $5 each.

How do I pay? (1) I prefer PayPal if you already have an account. Your card number is secure and is kept between you and PayPal. Use PayPal to transfer your payment to me securely and confidentially once I notify you by email of the amount. (2) You can also send in a estimated payment by check with your order, and I will refund any unused amount when I ship your project.

How long does it take? Most projects are completed and returned within 30 days, and is dependent upon other projects underway. "Rush" projects incur an additional charge. MP3 projects take somewhat longer due to the additional processing.

Can you put a picture on the CD Label? Yes. A small picture can fit onto the label area. There is a $10 scanning charge/file handling fee per image. If you can, send a "jpg" file as an email attachment instead of the actual photograph.

What can you transfer from? Wire recordings, records up to 12 inches diameter, 33-45-78 rpm records, cassette tape, and reel-to-reel (open reel) tape up to 7" reels.

What if nothing's recorded on the wire recordings? It is subject to the minimum project charge of $50. I reserve the option to reduce the charge for shorter spools. This charge covers setup and listening time. The entire wire spool or tape sent in is audited.

Why should I use Papa's Voice Audio for transfers? Papa's Voice Audio provides top-quality restoration and transfers of your recordings. Experience plus professional sound processing software makes the difference. PapasVoice uses Sony Sound Forge Software.

Can I get the transfers as MP3 files on CD-R? Yes. Extra processing time is required, so the amount is $4 per final minute of processed transfers or $3 per final minute of "raw" transfers. Supplied as 192 kbps bit rate files, unless you specify the 320 kbps bit rate.

The "Fine Print"

Although I treat all materials with the utmost care, the age of the items often makes them extremely fragile. I return ALL media to you along with your new CD-R's unless you do not wish them returned. Sorry, but I can't work on wire spools that are tangled or do not have an available starting end. They will be returned for $25 plus a shipping charge. All CD-R transfers are sold on a "best effort" basis. PapasVoice is not liable for damages, including incidental damages, resulting from the use or inability to use any CD-R prepared by PapasVoice.

Please note: some older or aging CD players may not be able to read CD-Recordable discs. This is not a defect of the CD-R product, but due to the way CD-R's are made. CD-R's with manufacturing defects can be returned for replacement within 15 days of shipment for exchange for same disc. Some older DVD players MIGHT NOT read CD-R's; many will. This is a design intent of the equipment manufacturers and not a defect of the CD-R product.

Please note that copyright laws may apply. The restoration copies of wire recordings, records, cassette tapes and reel to reel tapes are for your own personal use. Please respect the rights of the copyright owners and artists.
